The event was organized by FIWARE Future Internet Public-Private Partnership programme, and it celebrated the Grand Opening of FIWARE Accelerator programme. The European Commission destines 80 million euros to fostering innovation and businesses on the Internet of the Future via 16 Accelerator projects. Funding as well as open FIWARE technology will be provided to support the European SMEs and entrepreneurs to innovate and create new internet-enabled services and products.

The ECFI Munich event provided information, networking and real learning possibilities for the participants in the form of session panels, workshops and demonstrations at the exhibition booths. In addition, the Techno Brunch at BMW World featured a high-level panel discussion on how the Future Internet will revolutionize the manufacturing sector and particularly the automotive industry.

The Center for Knowledge and Innovation Research (CKIR) from Aalto University School of Business was actively involved in the organization of ECFI Munich.
